The Titusville Water
Works has 10 interconnected wells ranging in depth from 61 to 80
feet. The wells are in a confined aquifer and are non-flowing
artesian wells, capable of pumping 1000 gallons per minute. The
City currently pumps about 1.6 million gallons per day, but the
aquifer has a potential of supplying up to 20 million gallons per
day. The wells provide excellent quality water and the only
disinfecting currently used is by chlorine. City records indicate
that Titusville has provided a public water supply since around
1873.
