This office accepts the responsibilities of supervising and controlling the accounts of the departments. At Council’s request, this Department suggests plans for management and improvement of the city finances. The Director of Accounts and Finance presents to Council for adoption the Annual Budget. As part of the budget process, annual appropriations and the tax rate are set. Other responsibilities include oversight of all warrants paid by the City, proper and appropriate investment of City funds, report of all policies of insurance and bond coverage, and file annual report with Department of Community and Economic Development.
The Finance Department works closely with the Treasurer’s Office and City Controller to ensure proper accounting principles are followed and financial reports are complete and accurate.
