January

 

To follow is a summary of emergency response activity for the month of January 2007:

 

·        1st Response Medical – 32

·        Motor Vehicle Accidents – 1

·        Mutual Aid Response – 3

·        Fire Alarm / False Alarm – 8

·        Vehicle Fires – 1

·        Misc. / Service calls – 3

·        Total – 48

  

In addition to the response activities:

 

·        The bid for the purchase of (12) sets of turnout gear was awarded to Premier Safety Company. On Thursday, February 15, 2007, a representative from Premier will be at our station getting sizes / measurements for the gear.

·        Attended a Crawford County LEPC (Local Emergency Planning Council) meeting in Meadville. The LEPC & Haz Mat Team are discussing placing a vehicle with a cache spill control & personal protective equipment supplies in Titusville. Additionally, I will be serving as a Co-Chair on the Fire Service sub-committee for the LEPC.

To follow is a summary of emergency response activity for the month of February 2007:

 

·        1st Response Medical – 23

In addition to the aforementioned emergency response activities, the department has been involved this month with the following:

 

·        Ordered & received a Knox Box for the new residential multiple occupancy on Briarwood, the Von Bora Apartments.

·        Participated in the sprinkler system acceptance testing for the abovementioned facility.

·        Conducted a compliance inspection for the ECLC day care center.

·        Participated in the Middle School Career day lectures.

·        Administered the written test for the firefighter 1001 in-house training program.

·        Conducted a 16 hour NIMS / ICS for the fire service class with one of our firefighters in attendance.

·        Conducted a 5.5 hour Haz Mat Operation refresher session with one of our firefighters in attendance.

·        Assisted Public Works with snow removal around fire hydrants

·        Worked with the Building Officer on potential rental inspection program.

To follow is a summary of emergency response activity for the month of March 2007:

In addition to emergency response, we were involved in the following:

 

·        (2) Two firefighters completed the 16hrs NIMS / ICS for the Fire Service State certified class.

·        The written 147 questions tests were administered for the in-house Firefighter 1 training program. In the months to follow, skill stations involving hands on activities will take place.

·        A presentation to the Kiwanis Club giving an overview of the services and activities the Fire Department performs for the region & community was given. A PowerPoint demonstration created by the Fire Department was shown as part of the presentation.

·        Work assignments for annual hydrant flow testing were given to the firefighters. Testing will start the week of April the 16th.

    ·        Authored & submitted a grant for the 2007 Fire Act Grant Program for respiratory protection upgrade.

    ·        Started the annual flow check & maintenance of the hydrants throughout the City.

    ·        Had (2) firefighters attend a 16 hour Aerial Ladder Operations Class PA State certified.

    ·        Participated in the April 21, 2007 Earth Day event at Burgess Park.

In addition to emergency response, the Fire Department was involved in the following activities during the month of May 2007:

 

  • CPR / AED certification training per annual requirements was conducted for both Fire & Police personnel.

  • Skill stations continued for the in-house firefighter 1 training program.

  • Firefighter Frazier is attending the first module (16hrs) of the 166 hour Essentials of Firefighting class.

  • Flow checks & maintenance of the City’s fire hydrants continues.

  • Participated in the Memorial Day parade & ceremonies at Scheide Park on the 28th.

June

In addition to emergency response, the Fire Department was involved with / in:

 

Finishing annual flow & maintenance of hydrants.

Participated in Walmart safety day (Aerial Ladder Demo).

(2) Firefighters completed a (16) hour, PA State certified Engine Company Operations Class.

(1) Firefighter completed the first (16) hour session of the PA State Certified (166) hour Essentials of Firefighting module.

All firefighters have completed the practical skill station covering ground ladders. This is a part of our In-House Firefighter 1 training program.

(2) Representatives of the Fire Department attended a certified safety committee training session conducted by Penn Prime.

Conducted NIMS compliancy training (IS-100) at the Titusville Hospital.

In addition to the aforementioned emergency response, the fire department was involved in the following:

 

Placed orders for (12) twelve new Knox Boxes for Titusville School District & the University of Pitt – Titusville. This brings the total to (24) twenty-four locations in our City that utilizes the system.

Participated in the Safety Fair on July 19th. Fire Department also had a display & answered questions regarding the Avian Flu.

Received notification of success in the 2007 Fire Act Grant program. $60,757.00 awarded to upgrade Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).

Conducted (2) two fire prevention/ education session at the fire station for school age children.

August

In addition to the aforementioned emergency response activity, the Fire Department was involved with the following activities during the month of August 2007:

Engines 26-8. 26-1. & 26-3 received their annual pump maintenance and certification testing. All passed the test.

Conducted annual fire prevention & education training session for the University of Pitt – Titusville resident assistants. The training consisted of lecture and live fire portable fire extinguisher training. We also did a demonstration involving the burning of a mock dorm room. All in attendance were very pleased with the session.

Conducted annual evaluation of Emerson Place evacuation & fire drill. Fire department audited & timed evolution.

Conducted fire prevention & education for the staff of Southwoods Assisted Living Center. Session included lecture & live fire, portable fire extinguisher training.
